The following are brief descriptions of some of the many topics we have incorporated into various custom programs for clients. Customers are encouraged to share their training needs and goals and collaborate with our coordinator to develop an appropriate program for your staff.
Custom programs on leadership skills and principles for leaders at all levels.Topics include leadership principles (primarily from John Maxwell, Steven Covey, Warren Bennis); self-leadership, change leadership, integrity, ethics, motivating self and others, leading by example, mentoring, effective communications skills for leaders, delegating and accountability.
SUPERVISORY & COACHING SKILLS:
Supervisory positions are often filled by people pulled out of the workforce they must now supervise, placing many in a dilemma—how to transition from worker to supervisor? This training teaches the first-time supervisor how to forge and lead a team, how to coach and handle conflicts and difficult situations like a professional. Excellent for veteran supervisors, too!
Change is not an option, but growth is. This course is for organizations that choose to grow. Custom programs with a design to equip your entire management team—team leaders, supervisors, managers, and project managers—to implement and manage change. Topics include “wave theory” of change management, recognizing events signaling change, steps to handling change, innovation and creative problem solving, effective communications in a changing environment.
TEAM BUILDING AND LEADING:
Whether building a team from scratch or shaping an existing group into a team, there are definite processes and steps to go through. Basic team principles and processes, various types of teams, stages of teams, and team building exercises are covered; plus team motivation, conflict resolution techniques, and avoiding team traps.
BECOMING AN EFFECTIVE TEAM MEMBER:
Rules and responsibilities of team membership are rarely taught. Successful teams are a result of individuals knowing what their team roles and responsibilities are and how their individual behaviors and skill levels impact a team. Topics include: individual competence, adding your value, member relations, individual roles and responsibilities, keys to collaboration, and building enthusiasm and tenacity.
HOLDING EFFICIENT AND PRODUCTIVE MEETINGS:
If run by the unskilled, meetings can become a battleground, demoralize your staff and cause bad decision-making. This course shows how to make meetings productive, energizing, and motivating by teaching meeting time management techniques, keeping order and eliminating distracting behaviors, setting house meeting rules, and activities to keep meetings energized and fresh.
The purpose of time management should be to help us attain specific goals we want to meet on time. This training teaches prioritizing time by goals, making task decisions, delegating, bartering for time, and handling interruptions without offending.
CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION:
Albert Einstein said, “Problems cannot be solved by the same thinking that created the problems.” Topics in this course include techniques and exercises to increase creativity in your staff, how to change perspectives, creative processes from leading edge companies and experts, problem solving and brainstorming techniques and exercises.
No matter what the medium, there is always a good chance of miscommunicating. Being misunderstood can be more than a little frustrating—it can cost a company a lot of money. Learn the many ways people filter messages and how easy it is to confuse, offend, and make mistakes as a result. Our custom training can cover any of the following topics: verbal communication basics, listening skills, non-verbal communication, presentation skills, written and electronic communication skills (memos, letters, email, telephone).
CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE:
Two of the most common causes of stress in the workplace—resolving conflicts, and working with difficult people—are covered in this topic. Skills and techniques covered include: handling difficult people with ease and elegance, strategies for resolving conflict, identifying stages of conflict, identifying difficult behaviors and how to respond to them.
PERSUASION & PRESENTATION SKILLS:
People in the workplace are required to sell ideas, concepts, strategies on a regular basis. This course covers successful presentation skills, how and why people buy-in, differing personal values and motives, effective listening and observation skills, how to relate to and persuade different types of people.
Stress costs. Stress steals joy from work and demoralizes your staff so that production, creativity, and competency are compromised. Custom programs can cover such topics and techniques as: stress management by personality styles, healthy things to do, putting fun back into the workplace, and decompression tips and exercises.
OUTSTANDING!™ CUSTOMER SERVICE:
The single item that distinguishes one capable company from the rest of the crowd is their ability to deliver OUTSTANDING! Customer Service. This course will teach you how to plan, design and distribute the highest quality of service to your most important customers.
FUNDAMENTAL TOOLS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Introduction and overview of the basic principles of project management. Topics include basic scheduling, charting, risk analysis, stakeholder analysis, time and cost estimation.
QUALITY MANAGEMENT: Topics: tools and techniques for quality planning, flowcharting, quality control measures, cost/benefit analysis

MANAGING PEOPLE IN PROJECTS: Topics: leading the project team, handling diverse personality styles, situational leadership, consensus building, team meetings, motivation, delegation, goal setting, conflict management, communication skills.
Duration - 4 days
COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING: Topics: Information distribution, performance reporting, selection of media and methods, project termination documentation, conducting a lessons learned meeting
Duration - 2 days
CONTRACTING AND NEGOTIATING: Topics: procurement and solicitation planning and execution, conducting and planning negotiations, contract formation process
PROJECT COMPUTER SIMULATION: Students are given a project to complete that simulates the actual running of a project. Computers and printers are used along with a facilitator to make the experience as real as possible. This course can be used as a benchmark for determining training needs or as a final course in a series to measure the learning of the students.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL TEST PREPARATION: A review of the key concepts in the Project Management Body of Knowledge, tips on test taking, and practice tests. A resource package of appropriate textbooks and other materials will be provided from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
It is recommended that students begin with the Fundamental Tools course and finish with the Project Computer Simulation course. All other courses can be taken in any order.
To ensure learning outcomes, tests patterned after the Project Management Professional (PMP) examination can be administered at the end of each course. These tests consist of twenty-five multiple-choice questions based on the curriculum of the course. Extra hours are added to each course to administer and grade these tests.
EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND TEAM BUILDING FOR THE I.T. PROFESSIONAL:
Management principles for the Information and Technology managers who are more comfortable with computers than people. This training covers all the essentials for sound leadership and management, including communication and listening, leadership, facilitating effective meetings, time management, motivating others, and more.
DiSC PERSONALITY PROFILES:
This highly interactive seminar is a favorite of many. In learning about how you perceive the world, you learn how others perceive it differently than you do, and come to a greater appreciation that difference. This seminar has helped sales people sell better, people communicate with more flexibility, and has help managers motivate with creativity.
EXECUTIVE PRESENTATION SKILLS: Learn how to speak like a leader. Study the non-verbal and verbal dynamics involved in addressing groups. Use your body and voice effectively to persuade others, gain credibility, and deliver bad news without getting shot.
Seminars consist of lecturettes and some exercises, a format excellent for mixed audiences at a convention or annual association meeting. Workshops are inter-active, highly participatory and are best used for single-company audiences.
